Building Skills. Creating Opportunities.
A family owned and operated provider for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, serving Chester County, Pennsylvania, and developing a Community Participation & Training Center.
What Vet Fixer is
Support that goes where the person goes.
Vet Fixer supports adults with intellectual disabilities and autism to build independence, develop practical skills, form genuine relationships and take an active part in community life. Today that happens through Community Participation Supports, In-Home & Community Supports, Companion Services and Respite Services.
We are also developing a Community Participation & Training Center: a CPS Hub with seven program areas covering independent living, career readiness, community connections, creative arts and entrepreneurship, technology, health and wellness, and hospitality training. The facility will be the home base, and the surrounding community is where those skills get practiced.
Every plan is written with the person, in language they can read.
Vet Fixer is family owned and operated, and was founded by a disabled Air Force veteran trying to make a difference for someone else, the way someone once made one for her.
Purpose. Creating Possibilities.
Who we serve
Three people usually find us at the same moment.
Different starting points, same question: what happens next, and who is going to help make it good?
The individual
An adult with an intellectual disability or autism who wants a real week: something to get up for, people to see, a skill worth having and a shot at earning.
The family
Parents and siblings holding the whole calendar, usually about a year out from a transition, wanting to know their person will be somewhere they are genuinely known.
The supports coordinator
A professional who needs a provider that answers the phone, gives an honest capacity answer, files documentation on time, and does not go quiet after the referral.
How we work
Four commitments you can hold us to.
Not values on a wall. Things you can check we are actually doing, and complain about if we are not.
The person decides
Choice is the starting point, not a reward for good behavior. The individual is in the room when their plan is written, and the plan is written in language they can read and agree with. A refusal is information, not a behavior to manage.
Skills have to survive contact with the real world
Anything taught inside the building gets practiced outside it. A budget in a workbook is a worksheet. A budget at a checkout is a skill. That is why the community is half the program.
Families get the truth first
Bad days, failed goals and our own mistakes reach you from us before you have to ask. Trust is built on the uncomfortable calls, not the easy ones.
Small enough to know everyone
Family owned and operated, deliberately small. You will know the name of whoever answers the phone and whoever supports your family member, and so will they.
Our mission
A welcoming environment where every individual is respected, encouraged, and supported in reaching their personal goals.
Vet Fixer
We believe each person deserves the opportunity to learn, contribute, develop meaningful connections, and participate fully in their community.
We are committed to partnering with families, caregivers and professionals to create individualized experiences that promote confidence, independence and long-term success. Every decision is guided by dignity, compassion, accountability and respect.
Together we are building more than a program. We are building a place where individuals and families feel supported, valued and empowered, creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on our community for generations to come.
Come and look
The building tells you more than this page can.
Bring the person who would be attending. Their reaction in the room will tell you more than any brochure, including ours.
